It's a sight to stop anyone in his or her tracks, as this vast moving mini-city sweeps by on the horizon. The entertainment options defy comprehension, and the eating choices will nullify any thoughts of culinary restraint. Yet, this remains mass-market cruising, not to everyone's taste.

The exciting news however is that we haven't seen the last of this elegant ship; she'll be back next year and for an extended stay. Although none of this is official, PORTS & SHIPS sources say that BOUDICCA will have an extended five-month stay in South African waters between the months of October 2017 and March 2018. During this time she will sail from Cape Town and from Durban to selected destinations such as Walvis Bay on the west coast and may even spend a few weeks in Mauritius waters cruising from there to exotic Indian Ocean islands.

The biggest cruise operators are sailing full ahead to China. Amid worries that demand for cruises may be peaking in some rich countries, the big players are now sailing into the biggest potential market of all..! The really big news is the emergence of Chinese consumers ready to take a cruise holiday. Between 2013 and 2015 growth has been in double digits, both in capacity deployed in the region and in the number of Asians cruising, according to the American Cruise Travel magazine.

MSC Cruises, the Swiss-based world's largest privately-owned cruise line and market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa, announced today the appointment of Antonio Paradiso as Managing Director (MD) for the MSC Cruises' business in the UK and Ireland, effective 1 March 2016.
