The former Safmarine mailship SA Vaal (31,793-gt), which began its career as the Transvaal Castle for Union Castle in 1961, before being transferred to Safmarine as SA Vaal in 1966, has arrived in Alang, India for cutting up.
The ship also served as a cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line as their Festivale and later for Premier Cruise Line under the name Island Breeze, before being renamed Big Red Boat III in 2000.
The ship will now be subject to bidding prior to the cutting up process.
