Making a brief visit for bunkers and supplies earlier today (22 April 2005) was the Fred Olsen Ferries Benchijigua, on her delivery voyage from Austal Ships at Henderson in Western Australia.
The fast ferry trimaran was originally due for completion last November but was delayed by four months to permit the fitting of an additional rudder designed to better counter rough seas. Costing A0 million, the craft has a design speed of 40 knots which was met on sea trials earlier, when however the need for an extra rudder became apparent.
