Nigerian ports to go on strike
Oct 6, 2003
A general strike and mass protest affecting most port operations in Nigeria will commence this Thursday (9 October), according to Nigerian press reports.
The Nigerian Labour Congress called the strike to protest over increases in the price of petroleum products, ironically in a country that has become one of the world’s foremost oil producers.
Labour suspended a similar strike lasting one week in July this year.
According to reports the export of oil and LNG is not likely to be affected although all other port operations will be.
