Round of Black Economic Empowerment Workshops
Oct 6, 2003
The National Ports Authority (NPA) is busy promoting a series of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) workshops around the country, with the next one lined up for Durban on Tuesday, 21 October.
The venue will be the Passenger Terminal building at N-Shed on the T-Jetty where the minister of Public Enterprises, Jeff Radebe, will deliver the keynote address. Other speakers will be drawn from the NPA, SA Port Operations and the Department of Public Enterprises, each sharing their expertise, knowledge, experiences and opportunities of BEE.
The theme of the one-day workshop will specifically apply to joint ventures in terminal operations, stevedoring, ship repair, cargo ownership, construction, the car terminal, the container trade as well as terminal operation and liner shipping.
This will be followed on the Friday with a presentation on the port and a visit to all port operations.
This follows a similar conference held at the port of Richards Bay last week also attended by Enterprises Minister Radebe and various personnel from the NPA and SA Port Operations.
