Sealand Express arrives in Durban
Oct 4, 2003
The container ship Sealand Express, which was successfully refloated from Table Bay after going aground on 19 August, arrived safely in Durban this morning on tow behind the Smit Salvage tug John Ross.
Met by four Durban harbour tugs, the container ship made a dignified if slow entrance considering all the drama that preceded her refloating. The ship was taken to the Dormac repair quay prior to entering dry dock on Monday (6 October). It is expected that repairs could take between four and six weeks.
It is understood the ship requires repairs to her bottom hull as well as to the rudder and propeller blades.
