Sea Elegance to enter port
Oct 17, 2003
The PIL container ship Sea Elegance, which was badly damaged in a fire last Saturday while laying at anchor in the Durban outer anchorage, is due to enter port tomorrow (Saturday, 18 October), weather permitting.
The ship will be taken to Pier 1 where cargo will be discharged and a full inspection undertaken.
Mystery still surrounds the cause of the fire, although the SA minister of Environmental Affairs this week levelled an accusation against those responsible for loading a container of hazardous substances without declaring the cargo to be hazardous chemicals (see report in this column).
