Wanted – new ship repair facility at Cape Town

The National Ports Authority (NPA) has invited expressions of interest for the use of an area of land within the Container Terminal at the Port of Cape Town, for the development and operation of a ship repair facility on a concession basis.
The land is to be made available on a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer basis (BOOT). Expressions of interest will be evaluated and a shortlist of potential bidders identified and approached to enter into a second stage proposal call process.
Proposal documents can be obtained at the office of the Port Manager (NPA), Procurement, Room 509, NPA House, South Arm Road, Port of Cape Town on payment of an amount of R1,140.00 including VAT per set, which is not refundable. Documents will be available for collection on 25 August 2003.
There is to be a briefing session at 10.00 on 22 September 2003 for all interested parties. This will be held in the 3rd floor boardroom, NPA House, South Arm Road, Port of Cape Town.
The proposal closes at 10.00 on Tuesday, 21 October 2003 at the Transnet Tender Box, Carlton centre, Office Block Foyer, 150 Commissioner Street, Johannesburg and no late proposals will be considered.
The NPA promotes Black Economic Empowerment and has a stated policy to attain at least 50 % Black involvement in its procurement strategies, some form of joint venture.
