HMAS Anzac in Cape Town

Ian Shiffman was on hand to photographically record the departure of the Australian Navy frigate HMAS Anzac following her visit to Simon’s Town and Cape Town at the end of July. Here the ship sails from Cape Town on a lovely winter’s day, 28 July 2005.

The Meko 200-type frigate was returning home after representing Australia at the Trafalgar 200 Fleet Review held off Portsmouth, UK and her visit was made all the more interesting for being the first time in 37 years that an Australian naval ship had called at a South African port.
