Nigeria denies loss of naval patrol boat

Nigerian Navy officials have denied that they lost a patrol boat to armed youths in the Bomadi district in the Niger Delta recently.

A senior Nigerian navy officer said newspaper reports were inaccurate and that it was ‘foolhardy’ for anyone to believe that armed youths could seize any navy craft.

He added that in any case the Bomadi channels were too shallow to allow patrol boats to venture onto them.
